TCHA Members are encouraged to bring in their antiques and curiosities and share with us their unique story. This is followed by a special presenter who will then talk about an object in more depth and its history as it relates to Tippecanoe County.
This month’s special presentation is on the State of Medical Treatments in Tippecanoe County in 1915. If you had constipation in 1915, you could easily have been treated with strychnine as the treatment of choice. Cough? Bayer’s Heroin. Other aches? Cocaine. Hear and see examples of actual prescriptions written by A.C. Arnett, R. B. Wetherill and other physicians in Tippecanoe County. This month’s guest presenter is Dr. Pete Bill.
The History of IU Health Arnett
Join Koreen Kyhnell as she shares insights into the history of Indiana University Health Arnett in Lafayette and the surrounding communities. It all began with two distinguished physicians, Dr. A. C. Arnett and Dr. Franklin Smith Crockett. From this partnership the Arnett- Crockett Clinic was founded in 1922, based upon Dr. Arnett’s vision of a clinic of specialists offering a broad spectrum of medical treatment in one facility. Now almost 100 years later, IU Health Arnett continues to build upon Dr. Arnett’s vision.
Bring your own brown bag lunch and enjoy a mini presentation. Snacks and beverages are available for purchase.
